Lou: I recommend who I think is best suited for the purpose, who has a good reputation, who has treated me fairly if they have done work for me. Tim Lee at Don Lee Auto has never done any work for me yet, but they are very local to Riverside County, have a spotless reputation on every board/site that I have ever been on, including, Corvetteforum, Z06vette, digital corvettes, LS1, and LS2tech. They also campaign a just drop dead gorgeous and flawless early Buick. Maybe a '65. Pretty much stops crowds whereever it goes. I have never heard a single complaint regarding them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recommendation and respect are both best earned, not demanded, nor asked for.

I can be whatever way I want to towards anybodys business
yours or anybody elses.

Yes, I am nosy, sorry that bothers you. I intend to get better at it. BTW, whose car for sale have I been badmouthing? I have never lied about anybodys car, for sale or otherwise. I give an opinion if asked, but I also don't like to see anybody "stuck", whether they fall for it or not.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tell me what car I "Badmouthed" and I will tell you what I said about it, and why, and whether I said anything at all.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, if the new guy hasn't figures me out yet, I am sure that he will. Give him time.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Most of us have & try to ignore you."
I have no problem with that and it works for me.
You can ignore me all that you want to, Lou, I really don't mind on that one.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have hired your services in the past for your mechanical knowledge, appitude, and services, nothing more, nothing less.
I really don't know of any time that you have extended your friendship and helped me out, other than when you let me borrow, I believe. $ 500.00 to help me buy a car with. And you charged me no interest. There again, you offered the loan.
I paid it back, and thanked you profusely and profoundly within the week as promised at the Mile Square Park Buick show. I do owe you on that one. I expect you and everybody that either has or is in business to charge for their services. I never bitched or complained about your charging me for services rendered that I am aware of. I do not insist on burning my bridges. Did I burn this bridge. You mean that I am not welcome at your new shop as a customer anymore. Well, I am sorry that you feel that way. As far as the common sense to realize that the Buick community is small and that we need to stick together. Well, sometimes there are specialized circumstances that prevent that from happening.
And you are welcome, Lou. You, too, have a nice day.

As you see J.R., we're just one big happy family on this board. You will never find a bigger group of disfunctionals than a Buick community, hopefully you find the info you want on this board, other than that, don't look for much.

Tim Lee has never done anything for you. Yet you rave about him. He has a drop dead gorgeous 65 buick. Where have you been with all the
show quality cars I've owned & built. How about my other accomplishments. What about John Lehmans stage car that was recently featured in Turbo Magazine. My TT race cars etc. I suppose that doesnt count. My credentials go back 42 years in this business. The last 18 on Buicks. He did not mention/use the acroynm "LA" Where do you keep getting that? Another Kevin/Harold ASSumption.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lou didn't do anything that anybody else would not have done for me. Straight business proposition...........he worked, and I paid.......pretty basic and elementary business transaction, really.

I would hardly consider or call Tim Lee at Don Lee auto a "so so"
specialist, and he's not located in LA. He is located in Riverside County, or right next to it. 1 of the reasons for my recoommendation of his shop.

evidently, I do not agree, or I would have done so by now.

He did not establish a time frame for any of his requests, or which was primary, secondary, and which was third, and so forth.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Base your assumptions on your own, did you?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not see the word modding or modifications at all, another ASSumption of yours, or did you confuse your word usage term "modifications/modded" for his wording"replacement parts"?

Yes, I believe that I said that in my post, not exactly rocket science here. Actually, I said that he had not worked on my car yet, I believe.

Merely noting/denoting observations. I believe that I entered my reasons why. One of the most endearing qualities that I find unusual about Tim Lee, is that of the same as Darryl Davis, neither 1 of them was/or are in love with themselves, nor do they find it necessary to get on an open forum and demand/ask for acknowledgement, nor do they consistently brag about themselves. Good God, man, get a grip.

You really mean that I was still welcome in your shop up until my last go around. Do tell, Lou.
---------------------------------------------------
I don't remember any expert refusing to work on my junk or run me out of their shop, well, I mean other than "Expert Lou"
Refresh my memory. What expert, what shop??
I will give you the benefit of not calling you any names. You can call me whatever names that you see fit, works for me.

Hey, can I bring my car in next Sat? I think that it is broken.

I personally like johnsperformance.com, bnecustoms.com, kirbans, postons, gbodyparts.com, hrpartsnstuff, alkycontrol.com..and others. Over time you'll find the contacts that you like.

Good luck man....go to t6p.com, ihadav8.com or turbobuicks.com

HAHA,

Before I move on, I have to ask...What the hell is wrong with you guys? You really spend this kind of time arguing on a message board?

The point of my thread, (you may recall it.....it's about 10 posts above the derailment) was to introduce myself to the community, and based on what I've observed during my search, tap on this little online community for some assistance.

My perception of what I've just embarked on is as follows:

  • Entered into a car ownership that I've thought about and wanted for a very long time.

Know in advance, that there is only a small supoprt network for either qualified service, and parts availablity.

Anticipated meeting some new friends, with common interest and likely a lot of passion for our cars.

Thing of it is, and I'm sure with what seems like a lot of history that Im not aware of, you guys above DO share the passion for the car. Also it seems that you have a competitive spirit, something I can appreciate and respect.

What I'd like to ask though, is if in the future, you fellas wouldn't mind making your own, "I know you are, but what am I thread" as not to drag your cock fencing into my info. gathering.

I'm not predisposed to liking or disliking anyone here, based on someone else's experience and the derogatory comments above will be ignored. I just want to close by saying that I appreciate the positive information shared so far, and look forward to getting to know you all better, both here and when we meet at shows, shops or wherever.

I consider this to be something like a virtual garage. Let's leave the **** talking to the old women, and just enjoy the cars, and friends we might make.

Peace out,
J.R.

Oops ~ Venti30

Apparently on this computer I was logged in as my first account. Figured I should just use my name instead.

Thanks,

Gary, it looks to me like Lou just up and attacked you. I'm going to call it like I see it...you didnt mention Lou because JR asked for your favorite.

Your second post you wished Lou luck and other nice things.

Whats wrong with this Lou guy? He sounds like a spaz. I'm looking to get a motor built. I guess calling Lou would be a bad choice?

there is nothing wrong with Lou sometimes some people rubb him the wrong way and he gets up on his high horse dont blame him for that. some people like to talk a lot of s*** and be sticking thier noses where they are not suppouse too, i wont mention any names hint hint, if you want a motor build Lou is the man, this guy can built some mean motors and he is very maticulous almost a perfectionist when it comes to building this cars... if i ever had a motor build he would be my 1st choice as a builder.

I dont know Lou personally but I have heard about how he loves TR's and I totally respect that fact. The thing about it is he comes off as a person that would get super pissed if he couldnt get a bolt off and just start hammering away at stuff. Kinda scary thought.

as i mention above, he is very maticulous and a perfectionist when it comes to this cars, you dont have anything to worry when it comes to him building you a motor, as a matter of fact he already has a few motors build ready to go, from Mild To Wild, I guess it all depends how much you want to spend..

6-8K

But anyways, lets get back to JR. Any other questions dude? The search button at the top of this page will answer any question you'll have. Sometimes you'll have to spend some time but you'll find your answer.

Heres a tip. When you need an opinion on something...search and find more posts about it. Add up the pros/cons and make your own judgement. There are alot of opinions around here...some by people that test and try different parts and others who just bought and liked what they got.

Everything I've done to my car has been through the tb.com opinion search. I buy what I think is best for my car. I think the only two mistakes I made so far was to misjudge my turbo size...I should have gotten a bigger one and buying nitto tires for the front. Everything else I'm completly happy with.

Lou, dont lose any sleep over this stuff man. Take it from where its coming. 1500 people here, and one upset. I called you one day oh probably 10 years ago at Marka Gallinas suggestion, and you spoke with me as if we knew each other. You probably dont remember, but I do.

I dont even know how I got to reading this thread, but it is always the same guy heckling you. let it die man. Its just not worth the cost of the blood pressure medicine. Save it for the cheap fokkerz who wanna argue the bill at the shop. :)

I'm surprized at you Gary. I remember how gracious you were at the comments posted on your white T. You seemed like a real nice guy. I didnt expect another post like this from you.... for whatever that is worth

First of all if I can't get a bolt off with out getting pissed I need to get out of the business. I hope I havent given that impression. My problem is I'm very sensitive about my reputation & standing amongst my peers. Gary for example is a person whom I have tried very hard to get along with. This is not our first run in. We seem to have a long history of friction. Bad chemistry I quess. Some day I'll learn to ignore people I can't seem to please. I'm now putting this nonsense to rest. Regards Lou

Thanks Jim for the wise words. I do have alot of great customers & friends. I usually never turn people down who call or need a favour. Thats why I don't do ungrateful criticism well.Maybe I need to take a course on how to deal with difficult people. So keep in touch & call if you need anything. Regards Lou

You have given that impression - and a childish one at that. Don't worry - you're not losing any business from me, I'm in Florida - but you either need to relax or take it to PM.

Regardless of what you and Gary have issues with - you came off as a HUGE asshole in this thread.

<shakes head>

um, I see, I think that you are confusing me with someone else, actually, I know that you are, but it is not my job to name names, please do post the .........another post from me.........., or it's address so that I may review it. If you are referring to me as doing the "heckling", you are very incorrect. I very well know the post that you are thinking of, and it was not me that did the attacking. It was I that was attacked.
