Hello all,

I was up at NED sunday. I finally decided to turn the alky/water injection on. I was still running C16 fuel so I set the pump speed to min. and turn it on at 19# for the first time trial. the car picked up 1 mph thought the traps.

So for the second time trail I set it to come on at 18# and the car picked up 2 MPH (this was judging for staurdays results /the conditions where the same). running around 96 MPH on saturday

The car run a 13.56 @ 97.46 MPH first pass , it warmed up alot for the second pass the car ran a 13.60 @ 98.28 mph @19-20# boost.

First round the car spun coming out of the hole and I had a bad bad reaction time (.834) and lost first round. I would have had the guy covered becasue I dailed a 13.6 and the car ran a 13.62 @98.92mph in the 90° heat.

I will play with it again this weekend on pump gas.

Those are great times for a carbo. What do you use to monitor knock without a computer?

My ear(s) , and I wacth the boost gauge to see if it starts to creep.

I'm going to get a EGT sometime , But I'm going to build a Knock detector. Because my car uses the old ESC box. I'm going to monitor the signal off the sensor it self. I already have the circuit drawn up I just have to build it.

Sounds interesting. Could you elaborate on it a little? I might want to build something similar.

Well, I just got though building and testing (basic test) a knock detector for our types of car’s (ESC, the old non computer cars). It works by reading the signal of the Knock sensor it self and I made it with a sensitivity adjustment so false knock can be tuned out. It uses a bright LED & a warning Buzzer (I'm going to mount a remote buzzer for the helmet) but it works. Now I can really test the alky on pump gas.

What type of knock sensor is used on the compter controlled car's?

Well, Hoping to get more track time Friday the last weekend that LVD is open this season. Since My last post I have install a cowl mount Hood scoop and made up a carburetor air pan (offset because the scoop id mounted in the center of the hood.) A semi straight shot into the carburetor.

Since traffic is so heavy in my area, I really don’t have a safe place to “lean on it”. (And Moroso doesn’t like us doing burn outs in the parking lot :)) So I have been doing break standing testing in my yard, I was Running 22-24# of boost on pump gas with the Alky on full. But it was rattling a little (Knock detector works :)). So I installed a bigger jet. So If I get a chance tomorrow I try it again, or I’ll just run Race gas on Friday. I rather blow a gasket at or near home instead of 135 Miles from home.

This maybe my ticket into the 12’s.

I think Mark H. mentioned a good test road is the ramp off the highway to Hammonasset State Beach/Park.

Might be worth checking out.

Our Dragday that was planned for today was rained/snowed out. :(

I am sure this weekend will be crowded. :(

Good luck running, remember more fuel/alky. in the cold. :)

I know where that stretch of road is. Too much traffic every time I have gone that way.

I also forgot to mention I also installed a vacuum pump, I can’t use it on the street because it spit’s oil out of the catch tank filter on long highway trips. But I can run it at track. It pulls 11” of vacuum @ 2500 rpms.

Working at Moroso has its purk's :).

Injecting after the turbo. Right at the turbo elbow. Using a Ford pump, NOS nozzle, and a variable speed PWM boost sensing pump control.

Well, it turns out the scoop does exactly what I expected, It leaned the engine out big time. I had to go up four-jet sizes. The stock carb hat was restrictive. I have run 19-20 # boost on pump gas & a 50/50 mix of H2O & methanol (and some lube).

Now That LVD is closed for the season, I friend at work offered to tow the car down to Atco later November. Sounds like the ticket. I can lean on it, and not worry about breaking and getting home.
