First Gear Ratio

Hi All,

Going by memory here so bear with me. I'm planning to tear down my TH400. I'm not sure if a lower first gear was used, I assume not. How do I determine this? It is the Planetary set that determines this, right? That being said, is it like determining rear ratio where I do is divide the tooth count on the Planetary gears into the outer mating gear ring tooth count? Again, from memory so bear with me....

art if you have 2 identical sungears it is a stock ratio 400 .the formula is the held divided by the driven .the ratio is similar to that used for the rear end ,but there are other factors involved .in a 400 the held divided by the driven of the rear planet plus 1 is second gear .plus 2 with a common sun gear is first and the held divided by the driven of the front planet is reverse ratio .now ,when dealing w/ a custom ratio such as what is made at ck performance ,i cant divulge that information until im ready to pass on to the AFTERFOREVER.im sure you understand .thanks for the interesting question .www.ckperformance.com

I think I'll just tell ya what I got when I tear it down and order the rebuild kit

Now I just have to get off my butt and take it apart and clean it....
