So, after two years of trying to get a Grand National, I finally have one. The sale went perfect, the seller was so helpful and very generous.

Anyways, I took it out for a spin and, all I can say is, WOW. I am soooo very excited and impressed with the Grand National. I also realize that, I need to be very very careful. It was crazy fast at only 14 pounds of boost.

Anyways, for a little fun I left some nice deep deep black marks with the Nittos =) and took it past what the speedometer could read. I plan on taking it to the track as soon as it opens, I do not want to street race it. I have seen the consequences of street racing and I don't know if I want to get into that.

If only you guys could have seen the HUGE smile on my face =). Am I the only 17 year old Asian guy with a Grand National =).

awesome man, glad your 1st experience has been a good one, wait till you can feel the power at 20+ psi, you'll love it. Good luck with the car, and take some pics and show us what she looks like. And u may be the only 17 year old asian with a GN on the board lol

CONGRATS on your purchase!!!! :D :D Nothing like your first couple drives in your brand new GN  I was VERY lucky, bought the very first GN I went to look at, 53K on the clock, wife was driving it and they had decided they didn't need anything that fast anymore, never even had a chip put in it.....that was of course until I got ahold of it  and haven't looked back.

Even after having it for 5 years now I sometimes see nice GN pics on the net and think........do I really have one of those sitting out in the garage.....why yes I do. Sweet cars.

Congrats on the purchase! Please be careful with it, I don't think most 17 year olds would be able to handle that kind of power.

Yup these cars are the best thing since sex;) hehe at the time i was like the only 18 year old with a national but that was 2 years ago and boy 18g later phew, you will never get tired of these cars i still go crazy when i see another national on the road even though i know i have one sitting in the garage, oh by the way make sure you have a garage for your beast because i had mine a month out on the st. and they took a screw driver to my drivers side door and tried to pop the lock thank god i had a pager alarm 5am woke me up. enjoy keep it in the shape they were meant to be in "PERFECT"

Not too hard to do when the speedo is 85mph :) Just had to say that.

Your a smart 17 year old in not street racing!

was you smile like this :D :D :D
or
this
or
this :) :) :)

Congrats on your purchase! I was 17 when I got my GN (im 18.5 now). You know your cool when you pull into the student lot at your high shcool and everyone stops to pick up their jaws off the ground. I know we all will do a little racing from eventually (dont deny it) but PLEASE make sure your confident and experienced with your car before you get wild with it. As your probably finding out, these cars are VERY different from your run-of-the-mill V-8. We just dont want to see a "parts car" GN on ebay and an obituary in the paper. :(
Have fun!:D

cool deal dude, hope you enjoy it. heck...i got my T when i was 15 and i just turned 17 today and it's a Thriller car:D most kids do not have them, especially one that's modded like mine and some other buddies of mine  don't worry, you will want to put some more go fast parts on once you have "tested the waters with it"

isnt' it cool!!! I was 17 when i got mine too, sold my nearly perfect very low mile 75 vega for it, i miss the old car but i'd never trade back!

its fast now, and everything happens really fast, but give it a little bit and you'l have a much better feel for it, and it gets a ton easier to drive. thats when you'll want it to be faster:D

I was running 16's when i got mine and was scared to drive it all out, not running low 15's on the street (10# of boost, i know its slow guys) i'm ready to fall asleep, its really cool how you get used to the speed. its great to take your friends for a ride and watch their face while your saying it could be faster.

have fun, and good idea staying away from the street racing!

oh its great to see any kid driving any domestic car, but to see an asian guy driving a buick, not a honda, thats sweet!

Heh, sorry for bumping this, but I took it out again today before the snow comes, wow, every day I drive it, it just gets better and better. I think I have already gotten used to the speed, but I havn't turned it up past 14 pounds of boost =o. At 14 pounds of boost, the car is CRAZY, I can't imagine 20...

It's great knowing people that are staring at your car because it's cool, not some piece of crap =o. I'll have to admit, I might race on the street, only in a super open road with no one else on it, in totally safe conditions...If a riced out Civic pulls up next to me and wants a piece...I probably wouldn't be able to resist, then again it wouldn't take much to take him.

A year ago, I would have never thought I would own a Grand National. I have yet to take it to the track, but it's set up will run low 12's =/.

Now that you have a Buick - you need to educate yourself on how to take care of it. Do it right and it's smooth sailing, but if you don't know what you're doing, then chances are you're going to have troubles.

BTW, I'm 30, but asian too. I get a funny feeling when I'm next to a ricer driven by a white guy...:o

LOL! That's good.
:D

PLEASE learn the car real well before you get cocky thinking you know how to drive it. Sorry, I'm NOT trying to be a pain, but I have a 17 year old son that has NEVER even driven my GN. There is no way in hell I would want him to have a car like this.

I really wish he was as mature as you young wipper snappers sound. He is on driving probation now until he turns 18 because of tickets - and that was in a Chevy Blazer. Imagine what he could have accomplished in a fast car. At least it protected him the time he pulled out in front of a semi.

I had hoped he would be like you guys, but guess not. I had 2 GN's and he wondered why I sold the other one instead of giving it to him. DOOH!!!

I'm 56 and had 427 vettes starting in the lat 60's. Lived in and enjoyed the REAL muscle car era. But I have to say, the GN's are the most fun cars I've ever had. I think the PISS OFF factor has a lot to do with it. Nothing like a new vette with 20 day tags someone just paid $40K+ for and you waste him.

Enjoy the cars but please be careful. They WILL get away from you.

My best suggestion? Constantly pay attention to your surroundings, assume the other guy will do something stupid and watch for it, and be aware of what's happening down the road, not just 100 feet in front of you.

OH YEAH - ENJOY the hell out of it.

Terry

Thanks for the tips. I went cruisin and had fun the first two nights of having the Grand National, but I think I am just going to slow it down and just go fast at the track. I definitely don't need any points on my license or tickets to pay.

But.... being the Asian guy in the American car next to the American guy in the ricer, I dunno if I could resist. Wouldn't take much though =).
