Fluid flow to the cooler?

Does the tranny route more fluid to the cooler when the TC is locked up?
If so, how much does it send when it isn't locked up?

Is there a simple mod that can be made to route more fluid to the cooler when it isn't locked up, like at idle or below the chips MPH lock up setting.

I ask... because I want to get rid of my intank tranny cooler (relieve some heat stress off rad, and free up some tank space for fluid capicity) and just run an external cooler with a fan, but am worried about adequate cooling if it aint getting full flow through the cooler at lower speeds.
