I finally got the engine tore down after finding low compression on cyls. 2,4,and 6. Everything was looking good until I pulled #2 piston and noticed a crack in the ring land above the oil control ring. After closer inspection I noticed a three inch piece of ring land between the top and middle ring was loose. Turned out the other two pistons looked the same. I guess all I have to do now is find a reputable machine shop in the St. Louis area. Anyone have any suggestions?

OK no takers on the question about a good machine shop. How about some help with block and crank casting numbers. The only numbers I found on the block is a couple of 3.8L stampings, a 4.1 stamp, 85,and 25524140. On the crank I found G 04 4,GM16,and 229. Would these numbers indicate the engine is correct for the 85 GN?
