Both tuned optimally even on low boost and pump gas i would say the 62 would feel substantially better. But if you don't have a big enough stall the 44 may feel quicker due to spool up issues with the 62

I'll let you know how much of a difference it makes here shortly. I'm stepping up from a Turbonetics Cheetah Stg 3 (somewhat similar to a 49/44..I think..lol) to a GT6152. If I had to guess, I would say there would be a noticeable difference in the two, even at the same boost level. Just have to remember the 62 will choke up more than a 44 if you have a stock i/c, downpipe, etc. I'm gonna see how it runs with the stock convertor, but will swap my Pat's 3200 in before too long. I have a feeling traction is about to become a worse issue than it already is......

Would love to here after the Pats 3200,I have the same Pats in my garage for 3yrs now, have art car now in the car... :)

I went from a ta49 to the te62. Without changing any other part of the combo, I gained 5 mph @ 23 psi. I'm not saying that this is the usual gain. It could more or less in a different car. The 62 does pull much harder than the 49 at any point. You can feel it, trust me. I can't see how you would be dissapointed if that's the direction you go.

No problem. I'm going to install my PTE fmic and THDP first, just to see how much it wakes up that Cheetah S3. After that, will be ready to bolt on the GT turbo see what difference it makes on the stock convertor....probably be laggy as crap....lol. Then I'll do the convertor swap, which should make a world of difference. If I get sent out on another field assignment, may be a few weeks before I get around to it, but it will happen. Dunno why I wanna heap the abuse on 172K mile motor......guess to see how much she can take..... ;)

If I'm remembering correctly the TE62 runs a P-trim turbine wheel. The larger P-trim turbine wheel is where most of the top end pull will come from, and is also where most of the added lag will come from. I believe the 44 has a 58mm compressor wheel and the 62 is a 62mm.

You may want to look into a TE63. The 63 will have about the same lag as the 62 but its a big shaft turbo and has the added durability that comes with it. It seams like 63 turbos make good power and last a long time.
