I've just come across ANOTHER front cover that isn't right.

Last year's engine project had a bad one and this year's also. The two alignment tabs don't perfectly line up but that can be fixed by slightly filing the holes in the cover. The major screw up in the aftermarket covers in my opinion is that the crank isn't perfectly centered in the front seal.

The piece that's needed is a simple centering piece...perhaps made from 1/8th inch steel or aluminum that fits inside the outer lip of the front cover seal hole. In the center of this piece is a hole for the crank to go through. Kinda like a large silver dollar with a hole in it.

With this piece it would just be a matter of attempting to fit a bad cover, then using the centering piece to see what needs to be filed, sanded or ground on the front cover, then repeating the process until the crank is perfectly centered so the front seal will be perfectly centered around the crank.

After it's moved around, what happens to the cam sensor gear & cam gear alignment??

I'm not talking about a couple of feet you, you, you, Chrysler Product owner.

It roughly measured to need to go about 60 thou straight down. And how do you know the cover doesn't NEED to be moved down for perfect gear mesh? :D

I guess..

if the sensor is "kinda tite", you can always drive it in, and let the gears "self clearance" themselves...
I didn't have that problem w/ the HEMI...I only had to build it ONCE!!:D :D
If you'd quit using junk from the hockshop, you'd not have these problems...:p
BTW, I know a good engine builder. Call me if you need his number...

All fixed. A grind here, a drill there, and for the grand finale, a BFH.

Nuttin' like a smooth fit, although I don't have to mention that to you Chuck. You still raise goats?

I'd still buy one if someone marketed them. Hint hint Jason.

Got a friend who would make you one. Need exact dimentions though since he is an aircraft tooling machinist.
