I have never noticed it before, but i recently installed 17" Torque thurst wheels all the way around. In the rear they fit fine and seem to be in the same proximity from the frame and fender lip. But on the front my passenger wheel sticks out 1" further than the drivers side. The main problem is that on deep long bumps the front passenger tires up and down travel comes in contact with the bottom of the wheel well. It doesnt seem to be hurting anything on tire or fender, but the car will pull to the right pretty hard when it happens. What should i be looking for up front. I recently rebuilt the whole thing in my driveway and had it aligned. All moog replacement parts exept it still has stock shocks and springs (yes original to 87) I'm planning on upgrading to bilsteins and maybe they will be stiff enough for it not to make contact but does anybody have a permanent fix or and ideas as to what to look for. The frame is straight and the car tracks well.

Hello,

We had one car here locally that after they installed 17" wheels they noticed the passenger side stuck out much farther than the driverside. This was such a difference that we looked at the body and frame and noticed that there was much more clearance on one side over the other. If you went to one side of the car you could put 2 fingers between the body and the frame (right in front of the door where the body mount is), on the other side you couldn't even fit a finger. Basically the body was not on the frame totally straight.

Something to look at.

Check all your body bushings. If they're rotted and crushed, the body will shift around on the frame.

If that's what it is, buy a new set of bushings and body bolts, a couple six-packs of beer, and invite some of your friends over with their jacks.

PRIOR to drinking the beer, put the car on jackstands completely level (check it with a level if you have to), undo all the body bolts, and using all your buddies and their jacks, pick the body up off the frame a tad. You should be able to get enough clearance to change out the bushings without tearing anything up.

Set it back down straight and torque to spec.

THEN drink the beer.

Thanks for the tips guys, the body bushings need to be done anyways so i will definatly do them. But first im gonna do the obvious and make sure the backspacing of the front wheels are the same on both sides lol. Who knows. Thanks for all the tips guys:cool:
