Any of you running alky setups with a 4-5 gal fuel cell mounted in the trunk?

I have a 3/4 gal container gravity feeding a Shurflo 8000 series pump under the hood right now (pump is mounted directly under the container).

I am looking to buy a 4-5 gal black plastic fuel cell from Summit racing and put it in the trunk with the Shurflo mounted below it so it will be gravity fed there as well.

What size line do you guys run from the pump to the front of the car? Most fuel cell have -6AN out, so I will just run a -6AN line from the fuel cell to the pump. But from the pump to the engine bay what line size should be used? I use a -3AN now since its under the hood and such a short distance, but I'm sure a larger line must be used due to the increased distance from the trunk.

Are there any special fuel cells you are using? Or just a generic one?

Any experiences or info would be appriciated.

Also if you have pics that would be great!

Thanks.

No experience with what you are trying to do.

However if you already own a 12-15 foot piece of -3 or -4AN hose hook it up to your setup and do a test out of the car with the nozzle in place. Compare it to the short line you now use.

My guess is the -3AN will work fine. Nozzle is a big restriction. Yeah it's a guess until you do the test. :D

If you plan on adding more nozzles that's a different story.

I assume that pump has a check valve? I'd keep that system primed daily too, lotsa hose.

Just an opinion....

I have a 4 gal fuel cell mounted in my trunk. 3/8" running to the front of the car and going to 1/4" into one of the nozzles. I stepped down so I could add another 1/4" line for the other nozzle if I needed it but haven't.

Don't know if you can see it but here is the link, Fuel Cell

4 Gallons!

4 gallons would last me more than 3 months!

I would only go to the trouble and expense of this if you use a lot of alky, or your car is a daily driver. I'm under the hood of the car weekly anyways so its not like the thing ever has an opportunity to run dry

Really - I go thru a gallon a week, and I only put about 125-150 miles on it

....I drag my right leg when I walk :D

Hey, 4 gallons does last me at least 2 months. I check it about once every other week but with a 1/2 gallon or so under the hood, I was too afraid that I would run out.

Plus this was a custom kit and I figured hmmm... a fuel cell would look sweet back there. When everyone else is showing off NOS bottles, I show off a fuel cell.;) :D

I use a 3 gallon Marine gas tank for my Alcohol set up. The tank, filter, and ShuFlo pump are mounted in the trunk. I use a 1/2 OD line running up to the engine compartment to my solinoid manifold. Not sure what size that is "in AN"??? I do have pictures of my set up but not here at work. E-mail me at home and I will be able to send them to you.
