Fuel pump kill switch?????

Hello
I was interested in installing a Fuel pump kill switch in my 84 buick Grand National. I know that you can spice into several different wires. On www.gnttype.org they say to splice into a tan or a green wire. I don’t see either. I am looking under the dr. side door wire loom. Am I looking on the wrong side or were the wires a different color in 84. The only wires I see are an orange a very large black wire and a small black wire. I looked at old post but I still can figure it out?

IMHO, I don't prefer to bring hot or positive wires into the passenger area of the car (or mess with computer realated hot wires that exist in the passenger compartment). It is much easier to locate a ground signal and disrupt the ground signal. Probably like a FP relay ground.

fKill Switch

Buickcruiser, when I replaced my stock unit with a Walbro, I placed a kill switch where the ash trar is. I actually have several kill switches there. But with the Walbro unit, you need more power to run the unit so I ran a low power line from a relay switch in the console to a relay switch, a high power line (heavier guage wire) from the alternator to a relay switch and then to the fuel pump. I used the same grommets that are on the fire wall to pass from passenger to engine compartments.
Additionally, since I have kids that are getting interested in driving, I also changed the connectors at the fuel pump. Now I have a double male pigtail that's about three inches long. I can completely remove this from the harness. When it's removed, there are two female connectors that won't join together for power and the car is dead in its tracks. So far it's worked real well with the 15 year old, because he has no clue on how to get around it.

Dr. D. Is'nt your plug for the motor kill called a poor man's security key on GNTTYPE.org? I saw an entire article on how to splice into the computer main power relay, add a male connector, and use it as the ground when the car is running...When you are not driving it, simply unglug and put in your pocket! I forget the whole spiel, but it was something like that, and I heard it was fairly darn effective. Good luck!!

Kill Switch

One of the other kill switches that I have at the ash tray is spliced into the power line off of the battery that runs directly to the ECM. The single line is directly off the positive battery terminal and runs under the radiator overflow tank. So it's easy to find.
The switch only provides or interrupts power to the ECM. The good thing about this one too is that when I have it switched off, there is absolutely no power draw from the computer, clock or anything else on the car. So during the snow months when I have the car parked in the garage, I don't have to worry about the battery always running down.

Thanks for the help guys, but I was interested in placing a fuel kill switch somewhere near the break and hood release. For security (in combination with some of your suggestion) and I have also heard that it is best to kill you fuel pump to get oil into your engine after you change the oil. Do you all know what color wire I am looking for to kill the fuel pump?
