G-Body headliner

My original headliner sagged and ordered one from G-Body this past Monday. Trip took the order and the headliner arrived on Wednesday.

I have a cage in the car and installing this headliner took a bit of effort. The good part of the G-body headliner is that it is flexible. I did not want to take out the back window (fear of breaking it).

The backing has cutouts for the visors, dome light and coat hooks. The installer has to cut out the material. This option was perfect for me because I don't have visors.

BTW Brian, there were no instructions in the box but I don't need no stinkin instructions to install a headliner :tongue:

While forcing the headliner between the roof and the halo, I put that mark in the headliner. The headliner came perfect from G-body. If anyone has any tips on how to remove that mark, it would be helpful otherwise it's going to remain.

All the trim pieces are not installed and I have to find those small push on washers to hold the dome light up.

Try a vacuum cleaner ? maybe the suction will fluff it back out. Those little push washers can be found at Autozone. I've never been able to pull one of those bastards off without breaking it.

I've got one of Brian's liners in my TR too. That must have been some experience, installing around the cage !! You might try one of those portable steamers( Rowenta Ultra Compact Steam Brush | Williams-Sonoma ), to remove the crease. Will a steam iron function upside down? Never tried that, but it might work.

I'd be real careful steaming it, not sure if I would if I were you. Get that glue to come un-done and you've got a peice of crap headliner on your hands.

I'd let it sit for a few days and see if it just comes out .. NO way would I steam it Expensive part to eat if it ruined it :redface:

I've got one and there's no way a light steaming would hurt it, the way it's made. The plastic backing CAN'T absorb or transfer any moisture, and the thin foam/cloth will give it up to the atmosphere in a short time. That could even be sped up with a quick wet/dry vac. Then again- You might want to consult with Brian. Wait a while though, as he just lost his wife.
