I weighed my gn the other day. The scales said 3340 w/out me in the car and a 1/4 tank of gas. I know there are some really heavy cars out there but is this about the lightest or avg. for my 87 w/ sunroof?

Sounds light...the Moonie cars are heavier than a non-t-top GN.

If the scales were accurate, I'd be pleased with those numbers!

:)

most of the fully loaded GNs will weigh between 3600 - 3800 lbs...

thank goodness i only weigh 140 lbs! my personal body is my weight reduction to my car

:D

The TR website says most weigh 3500 to 3900 lb. So 3340 lb does sound light to me, especially since my T weighs 3450 lb, no heavy options. Add T-tops, PW, PL, subwoofer and body braces and you get 3650 lb in my GN. The T has some undercoating which may add some weight, so maybe your 3340 is not uncommon for low options.

you could eaisly drop that weight down some if you do the !left arm and !left leg mod
easly get rid of those since its an auto and those arnt needed.

It's tough for a stock '87 GN to weigh around 3350 because they have steel bumper supports and steel wheels that give them about an 80# weight disadvantage right of the bat to a T-type (and even about 45#'s to an '86 GN). If the car has aftermarket wheels and aluminum bumper brackets, it is much easier to meet the 3350 number.

That's incredibly light for a moonroofed GN! You should immediately suspect the scales. I ran my moonroofed 86 across a calibrated set of scales here at the dairy (+/- 5 lbs.) a few weeks ago and it came off at 3660 without me in it (almost a full tank of gas).

Just out of curiousity, how much does a big cow weigh (with a full tank)? :D And one serious question, are landfill scales calibrated generally? There are several recycling centers that have nice drive on scales for free, or at least for buying the guy a Coke or something.

Opps, I forgot to mention it has alum. brackets and aftermarket wheels. :D

I weighed my GN (86) the other day on a truck scale and It was the same as what I see at the track. 3460 without me in it and a half tank of gas. It's a fully loaded, Non t-top car with aftermarket wheels. I would like to get it bellow 3400 someday without going to Fiberglass and keeping my AC. Any Ideas?
