This episode was just re-run the other night and it featured some nice machinery for a change. I know, another Fox-body, but this time it was matched up against a clean 3rd gen Firebird. Gary Penn was the "negotiator" for the Firebird representing Hardcore Racing in Flint, Michigan.
For those of you who have been around Turbo Regals for a long time, his name should sound familiar. Gary was the young guy from the Buick Motor Division that attended the GS Nats every year. I first saw him there in 1987 and he was there at a few after that too. When Buick would bring the GNX or other concept cars in their display tent, Gary was the guy that fielded questions or just talked about cool Buick stuff. I'm not certain what his position was with Buick at the time, but it must have been a neat experience.
If you have a copy of the "GNX Book", his name is listed in the people credited for having worked on the GNX project.
Apparently Gary left Buick and now works at Hardcore Racing, a speed shop in Flint. Their site is weracehardcore.com.
