The box stock 87 Turbo Buick that I just bought had very unreliable gas gauge readings , so I started with a new fp and sender and I believe it was worse as I fill it up the gauge might read 1/2 to 3/4 at its best , so I searched on hear and found several fixes , so what I did was pull gauge out and sand on the terminals and clean the contacts with some sandpaper on a screwdriver head and put it all back together and bingo as soon as I turned the key it went right up as fast as I have ever saw one work and hang there like a big dog . Thought I would share my positive experience with you all and you may need to do your also as I do not like the gas gauge to be playing tricks with me .

That's good to hear! My gas gauge is all over the place too

Just did that to mine a few weeks back, needed it for at least 3 years. One of the easiest repairs I've had to do
