I just started driving my 84 GN around after spending the last 8 months painting and restoring the body. It looks beautiful but it is now more show than go. I put 20 bucks in the tank yesterday and I can literally watch the gas gauge go down and I’m driving like an old grandma. There is a very annoying tapping sound coming from under the hood which I believe to be a bad lifter. Could this affect my gas mileage? Is there anything else I can do to get better gas mileage? Please help before I go broke. -Thanks-

With age the fuel gauge fails and gives faulty readings. My fuel gauge is now worthless- reads full all the time. I now use my trip odometer to manage fuel consumption until I have the unit inside the fuel tank replaced. Monitor your milege and refill your tank and check it. brad

I have instruction on my web site on how to diaignose and repair the sending unit for our cars. I fixed mine and will be reinstalling the gas tank this weekend. The link is below. PM me if you have any questions.

These cars actually get pretty good gas milage when you keep off the boost.
Normal driving I get at least 20 mpg, a hell of a lot better than the gas pig Dakota I have.

Very Nice job!

Thanks, just be patient because the site gets overloaded and shuts down sometimes. Did not have a chance to move it yet.

Any thoughts of sending it to GNTYPE?

How would one do that ? I also wanted some to try it and see if the instructions make sense to others, are easy to follow and get the sending unit repaired.
