Was wondering what your take is on using a gasket on the turbo to header flange.SCE sells a copper gasket and RJC sells one also that looks to be made out of some type high temp material that has good compression properties. Of the two which should I use? Was noticing that the some use high temp RTV on the flange and have good exhaust seal and don't even use a gasket.Another question what about downpipe to turbo area some use a gasket others don't. Do you get a better seal metal to metal if surface is straight and clean .Just wondering what the consensus was in regards to using gaskets or not using them as I'm fixing to change out turbo and want to do it right and do it only once . TIA

well let me start off by saying ive been having the same issue.. some guys run no gaskets with RTV and it seems to work just fine for them. Ive tried this about three times and i just kept blowing the RTV right out... Not the same thing that works for some one else will work for you... ive learned this the hard way.. ... i suggest get the RJC Gaskets, they are bullet proof..... everyone is going to have diffrent suggestions. Your just going to have to see wich works for you and what you like better.... good luck......

Gaskets

Thank you Royal6 for taking the time and giving your input appreciate it. Went with the gaskets, as my car the way it sits didn't have gaskets on the turbo -header flange nor on the DP to turbo. Looked like the original owner just used high temp RTV. I didn't want to take the chance and have to take everything apart to redo it if the RTV failed.

Actually what happened was had ordered from RJC and ordered header -turbo flange gasket and DP- turbo gasket, recieved DP to Turbo and a pair of header gaskets no header - turbo gasket. So I was wanting to do the turbo exchange this weekend and wasn't sure whether to give RTV a go since I didn't have the right gasket. What was cool is I had called RJC on Tuesday or Wednesday and let them know I didn't get the right gasket.

Asked if they could send one via the mail rather then ground UPS. Well after posting today the mailman came by and the turbo to header gasket showed up. Right on so I started tearing things down. Appreciate the guy(Brian) at RJC for getting the part out it wasn't alot of money I spent but just goes to show you these Buick guys at RJC take care of you whether you spend $12.95 or $1295.00

You will be very happy with the RJC gasket. as time goes on the flange warps and when you go to install a new turbo it will leak. i installed the gasket looking one from him and have been very happy with it. no leaks and its an easy install.
