Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but NASCAR and Charter Communications have requested the events at Gateway Int'l Raceway next Tuesday (5/4) and Wednesday (5/5) be cancelled to allow more preparations for next weekend's Charter 250 Busch Series race on the Gateway oval.
Drag Racing events at Gateway on Friday (5/7) and Saturday (5/8) had already been suspended for the Busch race, (as normal), but Gateway learned today that both Charter and NASCAR insisted on using the drag racing pit area during their set-ups for promotional and inspection-related activities before the actual race.
Last year, Gateway pushed the issue and got both to relent the Tuesday and Wednesday events, but this year both NASCAR and Charter decided at the last minute they needed the space.
Nice timing, huh?
