Someone sometime or another has changed the rearend in the GN I own and put a 7.5 inch in it, Does anyone know if there are any rearend's that will interchange so I can put an 8.5 back in it?
 
Old's 442 and Hurst/Olds 84 to 87 I think, but if you go junk yard shopping make sure that it still has it's orginal rear. lot of them have been changed out, just like your car's was
 
1980's Olds Cutlass 442.If I recall a while back I answered a thread of yours in the Turbo Lounge about your car having been damaged and fixed in the rear and what to look for,.I suggested looking to see if you still had an 8 1/2" rear.Sorry to see it didn't. 8 1/2" rears are pretty pricey $$.
 
Thank's, I don't really know what ratio mine is right now, I just know That I stumbled accross a great Turbo combo for it. My turbo was bad when I got the car and my hired hand had a new TO4E- HYBRID from GARRETT that was run for 3 day's on a SAAB and on the GN Ihave never seen anything spool up as fast as this thing. I'm running 12 lbs of boost on 30 lb Ford motorsports injectors and this car has blown my mind. I just need a good rearend to go along with it.
 
Yes, I'm using the factory exhaust housing but in order to do so we had to machine the turbines on the exhaust side of the turbo to fit, It took very little to make it fit.
 
2NASTBUICKS, Yes Sir, I was the one that asked that question, I have pretty much determined that it is a true GN but someone had taken the 8.5 out of it. It was in salvage for a while. I think someone had more than likely took it out during that time.
