Get up antenna down with broken cable

As many have encountered, the cable in my power antenna has broken. The antenna is up and is there a way to get it back down? Can you run the motor in the down direction and push the antenna down?

theres a small rubber grommet at the base of the mast and you might need to spin and wiggle the tip to get the broken cord to slip through that grommet , once th cord gets out of the bottom of the mast and can be pushed down a little you can connect the antenna motor and as the motor is running and you push the tip down further it should grab the cord and retract the antenna
