I have an intermittent open behind the fuse block of my 87 GN. For you service manual owners, my open wire seems to be the red fusible link "A" wire going into splice S200 behind the block. Most everything in the car was dead until I unscrewed the block from the firewall and pulled it out slightly. All the lights and bells fired up and the problem was fixed (sorta). Push the block back in and everything dies again. Does anyone know how to get behind the fuse block to fix an intermittent open? The wires coming thru the firewall seem aweful tight behind the block. I don't want to pull too hard and create more problems for myself.
Thanks, and Happy Independence Day to all!!! :)

C100 is the big block that goes through the firewall under the windshield wiper motor.

Fusible link A goes through that big connector block.

Take off the wiper motor and you should be able to get at the connector to remove it (screwed on I think?) and clean the contacts and reconnect it and check the wiring out.

Most likely it's intermittant at that point.

Otherwise do the wiggle and hope with what ever you can move and access the connector with, sometimes they are way loose and just need reseating. ;)

If you are positive it's actually inside at the fuse block itself then nevermind. :)

Hey Salvage, thanks! I haven't looked for the trouble on the engine side of the firewall yet. I'll definately check that C100 connector. I'm just assuming the loose wire is inside due to power cutting in & out when I move the fuse block around. Your way of accessing those wires sounds much easier then trying to get a visual by cramming my head up against the firewall by the brake pedal!

The C100 connector may actually plug into the back of the fuse panel, it's real close that's for sure.

If the fuse panel was loose or appeared to be damaged/hacked up or something you might want to start there but they normally aren't a problem on most cars.

Usually it's the C100 connector for intermittant problems and will be much easier to get at. :)

It's connection B5 a red wire in the lower right quadrant of the connections as you face the firewall.
