I am almost done with the conversion and getting ready to fire the new motor, but I need a little assistance...

1. My TB and IAC were not together when I got them so I have to install the IAC now. It is not a new IAC, so the pintle is sticking out. How do you go about retracting that back into the IAC body? Can this be done with out the car running? Can it be set correctly without the car running? I am sure it can be set once the cam is broken in, but I need it close enough to run during break in.

2. To set the idle 2000+ for break in you just use the idle screw (IAC screw) right?

It will be prelubed correctly, cam sensor set etc...

Any other suggestions?

While you're doing the break-in(20-25 minutes), you're supposed to vary the RPM between 2000 & 3200(or so). Better to have someone(outside) looking for leaks, adding coolant and looking for trouble while you are on the throttle watching the RPM, temp and oil pressure(in the car). The IAC won't affect that procedure. ;)http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/faq/IACresetscan.html Here's the adjustment procedure for the IAC. The engine needs to be warmed up and in "closed loop". Then- don't forget to readjust your TPS.

Yeah, I have broke in a cam in this car before, when it was still a hot air. I always have my dad come over and look/listen with me. But I usually use the idle screw to raise the RPM to 2000, then blip/vary the throttle every once in a while.

Good to hear the IAC won't affect break in running, but what about installing the IAC, since it is used? Should it be close enough I can just go ahead and tighten it down, or should it be retracted, installed, then adjusted outward?
