For those who don't know Prince George County Md had 17,000 vehicles
stolen last year no typo error here. My inlaws had there mini van stolen
4mos ago.

Today (sun) i visited inlaws and father-in-law wanted to take a ride we
decide to take his Jeep gone about 1.5 hr. Upon returning i say my goodbyes jump into car and notice pass side door ajar think nothing of it
i open and shut door from inside. Drive to Va cruise spot get out car
walk around pass side damn someone tried to pry lock and damaged
area around lock in process of prying.

Called mother-in-law asked if she heard an alarm go off. She says
yes didn't see anything by time she made it to window.
Called ins. co and PG police. Tomorrow i have to return to PG in order
for them to fill out report.

Lucky for me i set alarm (factory) and my advise to all TR owners if u
don't have one it maybe just a matter of time before someone else is
driving your ride!

Nothing was taken from inside i had an old laptop and some tool
covered under towel on front seat.

I hope you had a Anti-theift devise, or are now going to invest in some wiring and a switch, so you might keep on being a TR owner....

*****If all you have is the factory alarm, you are LUCKY you still have your car, and that only a nit-wit tried to steal it. Do yourself a favor and put a kill switch in that car like YESTERDAY. It is so easy to bust the column and simply start our cars and drive off that anyone who doesn't have some other anti-theft device (or two or three) is just asking to have their car stolen.

I used to go to the University of Maryland in College Park, which is in PG county and the local papers were FULL of stolen car incidents. The cops simply don't care that another car got stolen, as they have to deal with all of the murders, rapes, and drugs in that area - that area has really gone down hill in the past 10 years, especially Langley Park.. You know things are bad when you go into a beer/wine store where all of the windows have iron bars, there are no wines over $10 out on the shelves, and you have to pay your money through a bullet-proof glass slot in a window. No way I would leave my GN anywhere near that area unless it was boxed in, had alarms, and preferably a pit-bull in the car.

Count yourself lucky that you still have your car, and get some more protection on that car!

I have learn my leason over the decade with GN. I have had two of them stolen from me, with heavy security. Now i alway make sure my car is in eye viewing distance. I am currently looking into install Lo-jack tracking security install. But then again i should get better insurance. keeping this car is like keeping a hot GF. :D

ps glad to hear car on this thread was not stolen

Frank,
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
Fortunately they didn't get your car, or you.
The thugs in PG are trying to get the murder rate up to the car theft numbers.

PG County

My wifes cousin is a PG county cop and the stories he tells are sometimes unbelievable. Not all of the county is bad but the parts that are, are considered to be the worst in the whole state. I'll be on a ride along with him this friday and I'm sure I'm going to see plenty of action. Sorry to hear your car got damaged but at least it didn't get all the way jacked most people wish they could say that.

Yeah, PG County is starting to make Baltimore city look like a play ground  . Maryland is nothing like it used to be :(

I'll make it a point to NEVER visit that part of the county... even with someone elses car!
