Roanoke Virginia -- Police baffled after disapearance of a highly modified buick durring a car chase wednsday afternoon.

At 7.50pm (AEST) a member of the public alerted police to a black Buick Grand National street racing in a Roanoke industrial park.

Police arrived a short time later and the Buick sped off via orange avanue and merged on to 220 and then on to I81. On I81 the Buick preceded to out run the states intercepter partol cars and at one point before the end of the pursuit not even the police helochopter could keep up with the speeding Buick.

Spike strips were delpoyed several miles down the interstate but the Buick never showed up. In a statement by the baffled state police stated "we assume the black sedan took a off ramp when we lost visual on the car. as of yeat the car or driver has not turned up despite our searches"

The Buick Grand National is a obscure performance car from the late 80s once known to be the fastest car in production. But in recent years they have become a rare site on the street most being owned by collectors.

I was going to say, that is the most poorly written article I have ever seen in a national publication. Nice one, but didn't fool me for a second. First I glanced at the photo, then the URL and noticed "heavyplasma"...NOT REAL.

Last time I checked CNN is www.cnn.com not www.cnn.heavyplasma.com

actually thats a line i picked up from the vanishing point 2 challanger in the muscle car museam. its plaque said something about the chopper pilots were not able to keep up with it durring some of the scenes.
