I was organizing my Grand National folder that I keep my original papers and photos collected since 1988.

GN trip to North Carolina using Super Unleaded fuel only

Tuesday --- Aug. 2, 1988
Mileage -- Price/Gallon -- Amount -------- Location
10,132 -- $1.11/gallon -- 6.3 gallons -- Kaukauna, WI ( Green Bay)
10,397 -- $1.13/gallon -- 12.4 gallons -- Hebron, IN
10,674 -- $1.12/gallon -- 11.51 gallons -- Dry Ridge
10,934 -- $1.19/gallon -- 11.72 gallons -- Newport
11,234 -- $1.21/gallon -- 13.2 gallons -- Sanford
11,270 Arrive North Carolina

Trip 1,138 miles 1 way, $64 in fuel 1 way

21 MPG with Air Conditioner used for trip.

Purchased GN Jan 1988 -- 157 miles

Departed Fayetteville August 8, 1988 ---- 11,719 miles

9 months later after purchase in 1988 -- I put on 12,700 miles

stored GN in October 1988...
March 2005 - 35,867 original miles

Now I know why it was so easy to put on 15,000 miles on the GN the first year... buck a gallon for super unleaded and 22 years old in a GN with T-Tops.

March 11, 2005 super unleaded $2.31/gallon, going to be expensive going to GS Nats 2005 but at least it will be 21 MPG and in a Black GN - wisconsin license plates "XSTASY"

My V8 towncar gets 24 MPG -- V6 vs V8, ummmm...

yea, i cant wait for the nats, i bet my escalade will get about 11 mpg pulling a trailer...should cost 200 bucks in gas!

woo hooo

:(

I remember a few buddies and I would always cruise to a park near Pittsburgh (South Park......goin' down to South Park, lol) back in 1989 until after we graduated H.S., and gas was still .99 .

Man, I miss that. I'd be thrilled to see $1.50 again *sigh*

I remember when I first started driving and gas spiked to $1.36/gal and my car got about 8 miles/gal  And I thought that was high back in the mid-80's.

well look at the prices of cars compared to gasoline ( inflation in general) and it doesnt look bad at all

seems to me that cars cost double what they did back then so the fact that gas is approaching double doesnt really surprise me

im not defending the prices just pointing this out. I think gas should be .25 cents a gallon and we should drill for it anywhere we even suspect it exists
