I understand the GNX prom was slightly different from the GN one.
Has anybody ever put a GNX prom in a stock or modified GN and what would happen?

Nick,

I'm sure you've read the letter from ASC that came w/ every GNX. It says:
DO NOT USE AFTERMARKET PROMS (PROGRAMMABLE READ ONLY MEMORY) for your GNX, they may, in fact, cause a reduction in performance.
They were proud of their GNX calibration. :p

Thanks, but what I really wanted to know was would there be any performance gain or loss by putting the GNX prom into a regular Grand National.

I plan to do some fiddilin' and just want a heads-up. I have the acxa, bbjk and gnx chips. Which one would give the best performance without endangering the engine?

I was thinking about the same thing. From the responses, it looks like nobody really knows. Let us know of the results.

Hi Boostmeister, would you happen to know what the broadcast code (ACXA, BBKJ, etc...) is for the GNX chip?

The gnttype page has several images for the Turbo 6 chips that GM put out over the years but not the GNX chip. I was wondering if you would be willing to read the chip and send the image to gnttype for posting on the page?

That's where I got the image from, but I haven't read it yet, so I don't know what is different in it. BTW does anybody know in a nutshell what changes were made as the chips progressed from the CMW0602, ACXA0942, BBJK9464, to the GNX (7464?)?
