yes need to know what gear to get in the tranny to make it accurate .got the cluster from Canada and have to change the little plastic gear at the end of the tranny speedo cable the goes to the tranny to make it accurate for us .I installed the 145mph us speedo plate in it .any one done this before and know what gear and color I need .

You shouldn't need to change anything to go from Canadian km/hr to American mph. The 145 decal will require to you to recalibrate the speedo. There is a gear adapter that makes your speedo needle read correctly with the 145 decal but it vastly slows down your VSS and stuff like torque converter lock up won't work right and odometer won't read right. The gear adapter is the cheap way of doing it but the recalibration is the right way. Again there is no requirement to change anything just because it was a Canadian unit. If you want to go the cheapazz way I do have one of those gear adapters but I do suggest you at least look into recalibrating it instead.

Ok thanks what is cost to recalibrate more or less ?

HEY HEY HEY!!! Man quit it with those offensive questions. Asking people how much money they've spent for stuff on their car, nobody want to remember how much money they've spent on their car....that crap is depressing. I forgot how much it cost...and I worked hard to forget it. Call a speedo shop and ask them, then it'll be your problem to forget how much you spent on it. Just kidding....but not really....if you know what I mean.

Kirban did mine a couple of years back, and like Clay said don't remember shit about the cost

Instead of an overlay, I had mine done by a local speedo shop 3 years ago and it was about $250. Dick's Speedo-Tach in Phoenix AZ did the work, very nice job IMHO.

They blacked out the MPH numbers and recalibrated it to within about 6-7% of true. I think my 295's might have something to do with that. :) I don't experience any of the issues that Clay mentioned at all.

They even set the milage to the correct milage on the car and provided me a certificate that it was true. Sorry about the shakey pics.

No offence meant to you or Dennis, but that thing looks pretty cheezy..........honestly......

Yes, I spent double the price, but it seems worth the cost in my opinion.

I do agree that yours is nicer looking but the OP did already say that he was going to use a decal. My old one was a decal that I didn't know was a decal for years it was done so well. I liked that one the most too. It had km/hr and mph/hr with 55mph in orange. Whoever applied the decal on my old one took some time to smooth the face out really good. I'd never try to talk someone out of what you did but if they already are going to go with a decal then....
