GOING TO TAKE MY 86 FOR SOME TUNING AND
TO SEE WHAT IT CAN DO.:D
WHAT ARE TECHNIQUES FOR BEGINNERS?
I HAVE BEEN DOING SEARCHES HERE TO READ AS MUCH AS I CAN.

Find a road to test launching and run to third gear. This gives a baseline. At the track with minor adjustments to make you have
more fun.

Launch on the last yellow, not the green. Its something that is simple buf if you have never raced you wouldnt know. I didnt.
If you wait for the green light you are going have a slow reaction time. Sure it only effects bracket racing, but might as well get in the habit :)

Install a line lock. :)

Stage with the front wheels at that little electronics box not up near the light tree like I did my first time. :D

Smoke 'em good when you get the line lock in there, the crowd loves that.

Don't go with a preconceived idea of fast you will run so you're not dissapointed - good times come with practice and experience. Go to have fun and talk with any other TR guys you may see they - can be a great help. Don't worry about trying to beat the car next to you. Do watch for knock and lift if it starts to knock - you can always make another pass (unless you destroy your motor). Don't worry about trying to cut a good light. Leave when the boost is at the level you want it to be. Have fun, be safe and try to remember what worked and what didn't for the next time. A notepad to jot down some notes would be good - or you can write on the time slips.

went out to the track, but I wish I had picked
another day.
It was 100*,lots of cars=lots of waiting,
my buddies went out with me,it was their first time too.
a we4,a limited, and my t type.
we were lost, and didnt know what we were doing.
but we had a good time,we had fun!:D
we'll go back in a month or so,and improve on our extremely
poor times:(

we4 best was a 13.8 vs o3 cobra 13.6
we4's previour run was a 14.0 vs z06 13.8
hes got very few mods.
the limited did a 14.4 could not grip his tires
also few mods.
my ttype did the worst, with the most mods:eek:
14.8
i felt like I didnt have enough time to spool up to get a good launch (once the 2 little lights light up)but my alky was acting up,sometimes it worked sometimes it didnt,
my first pass I floored it and saw knock
on the gauge at mid track so I let off and coasted.
second run I was limited to 14psi and 13psi in 3rd.
last run was my best run, and knew my limits with the knock.

I know my car has more in it,but I need more practice,
all in all we all had a hell of a time racing.:D :D :D

Cool that ain't so bad first time out.

Toss in some GT100 unleaded for KR control. :)

Learn the lights and how the track works first then the 60ft. times will start to drop and you will go faster.

I raced today too in the heat, it isn't easy.

Had my own issues as well but had a great time at a track rental. :)
