I pulled the stock headers from my 84 GN last night. Was going to have the cracks welded up, but now I know what you guys mean about these being poorly made pieces of crap. Is Poston headers my only choice for aftermarket headers out there? Couldn't find any other makers. I would be interested in buying used to save some $$$ if anybodys got some good ones they want to get rid of.

Sorry to say Poston is about the only way left to go....mostly because of the passenger side. There are options for the intercooled regals but as usual us Hot air folks are just left out in the cold...

BTW the postons are nice, you won't be dissapointed..

You can use any of the headers made for the 87s on the drivers side that work with the stock crossover but that's not your restriction.

I have had a set of Postons for over two years and I am very happy with them. If you are on a low budget, reweld the drivers side, keep the stock crosover and only get the passenger side header. Stay away from the Poston crossover pipe. The only performance increase is the passenger side header. Brad

I'll be ordering them today. I am going to keep stock crossover. I looked into that but didn't see any real benifit to buying theirs. Mine is still in great shape and since its pretty much just a big U with no major bends, didn't see much of help in flow increase. This will never be a race car. I would have liked to just weld up the stockers, but after pulling mine .... just can't bring myself to even bother.

also... I did a search on this, and didn't find my answer. Is the Cat Hanger on my 84 the same one for the 86/87's? I know the bolt up is the same on the crossmember side, but not sure if the actual hook/hanger part that bolts onto the cat is the same size. The rubber on mine is completely torn into.

just thought I should point this out...... In my sig. it shows I have a 84 and a 87 GN. Which means it should be easy to tell if my 84 and 87 Hanger clamp is the same. Get my butt underneath the car and measure it! Normally both cars are kept together at a hanger at the airport that one of the pilots at my work has. I only have a one car garage at home and I have a 04 Buick Lesabre for my daily driver. When I need to work on a GN, I bring it home and work on it in my garage. I won't get a chance to get out to the hanger where my 87 is until tommorow, so I thought I'd ask on here to see if anybody knew for sure. :)

Also, my 84 has the stock cat, so the broken hanger thats still bolted to it should still be original

The 84 crossover is double walled so it's not as good as it looks on the outside.

Not sure what you mean by that. Does that mean theres more creases on the inside?

You have an outer and inner pipe. I've cut it open before and besides the inner being smaller, it has creases in the corners. I assume it was double walled to keep the heat in the pipe but who knows. Don't know how much of a gain if any you will get, I only ran stock for a few months.
