i found out that my 275-60-15 BFG Radial T/A's are 28 inches tall. i just read a post about a car having too tall of a tire and that with a tall tire you need a lower gear. is my car ok with this tire or is performance suffering?

I am just getting ready to run some 28" slicks. According to some good advice I got on the board, this is what you want to keep trap rpm down below 5000 in the quarter. Turbo cars make most their power below this level unless highly modded, and shift out of drive just above that (you will run the 1320 in D). Especially true with a stock turbo or other turbo without running very high boost. It is also a known fact not to ever change the rear gear setup of 3.42 unless you are running into the 10s. See this recent thread for more info: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51324

I would not worry to much about it. A taller tire will allow higher boost which will more than compensate for the reduced gear reduction. A 28" tire practically becomes a necessity if your car starts running high 11's or quicker.
