Looking to upgrade from my TA-60 to possibly an HPT or Precision. Car is Street only - with a potential to run up.and down the track a few times a year.

Precision newest next gen 6062, pretty bad ass street turbo on a 3.8L, it's nice in my 2.0L so I can't imagine on my GN. HPT similar sized can't go wrong, go too big on the turbo and you might not like the response for normal street hits or light launches.

Yeah, after I posted this - I saw post about the Precision Models. Not looking to break necks, but a little more umph here and there!

Ya I think Spool can get them in a Buick housing with the puck hole. The CTXR 58/58 on a slightly moded GN would be plenty for the street to bring a smile every hit. It's not 1995 anymore, these small turbos are flowing big air.

I can spec them in any configuration and size.
At this point I would rather just do ctrx triple bb hubless.
The hubless spooling and flow capabilities are just incredible.
From the initial light up throughout the curve is special.

I ran a 5857 for 10 years on the street and strip best 10.8 but it was a solid 11.5 and good street turbo.
I have moved to a 6062 it is a lot of turbo but has very good street manners.
Ill be taking it to the track this weekend

I've heard the same thing about the 5857. Trying to get all of the info on a several sizes /brands.

The comp lineup is now in ctrx hubless only and the pricing has come down to reflect that in the air and oil cooled turbo.
The hubless are now alot more accessible.
With this technology I would caution anybody on a turbo Buick 3.8 to want a smaller mm compressor and turbine wheel combination.
We have the backpressure and spool times on these motors with a few different converters and computer systems at this point.

6062 would be nasty especially with a little E85
its very nasty I did not get the results I was looking for,But it was its first time out. Next track day aug 24.
I think this turbo is a big hand full on the street It drives good and has good street manners, 275/60-15 Coopers are not the tire for the street.
My wife and daughter could drive it with the 5857. I won't be letting then get behind the wheel of this. I can't describe how hard it hits the tires.
I intend to take this car into 10s.Older 5858 6262 should start popping up for sale. But if you intend to run DOT slicks, The new turbos are supper.
My 5857 was supported with a TT chip 60s 255 ractronix pump and Hotwire Oe fuel lines and ALKY.Good basic mods. I was having some problems with my harness and had added TR6. I added a Holley to rid myself of all the problems I was having with the harness. The 6062 just seems like the next rabbit hole for me to head.
Regardless of your next turbo selection Ball bearing would be my first consideration over size and manufacture
Decide if you have the fuel to Suport 400 hp 500hp or more then your transmission should be factored in along with convertor

I got a new comp triple bb hubless turbo on the way that I will be testing for the guys that want the new technology with smaller turbo size.

If we're not on minimum 275-60 SS or Street Rs (DR2 Hoosiers etc) our torque will just obliterate the tires and be scary.

The PTE 6062 is newest tech by them
Comp Hubless is even better tech
Garrett G Series Gen2 is on par with Comp

Spool, curious what you see over time with the Comp 58/58 and 62/62 on a 109. The 3 bolt vs V Band or T4 would be nice to see after you get more time with them along with same turbo in different housing sizes. 3 bolt .63 is a big choke on these new wheels on our cubes, .83 minimum.

See i don't see alot of backpressure data showing the effectiveness of the turbos.
I see many buying what they think are upgrades and in most cases aren't looking at back pressure but rather fixated on ratings.
The truth is seeing the power that is made with the least amount of back pressure will show how the effectiveness of the turbo and the setup its on😉

A Supra online did a nice G30-770 (58/55) in a V band .61 vs .83 vs 1.01 and it was crazy how the .61 spooled slower and made way less torque and power on higher boost, big cubes mega choke in the smaller housing even on small wheels.

Go to 8:30ish, the above dyno comparison is there. Curious what you think and have seen.
