Ok I know I keep posting and probably pissing off a few people but here goes!
I have a 1984 Grand Nash and it has many mods on it.
rebuilt motor, not sure on internals, but I know it has ARP studs
New TA33 turbo running at 16psi
Walboro 340 pump and hot wire kit
Accell adjustable pressure regulator
Cold air intake
Poston headers and crossover pipe
Mease downpipe

Ok the problem is when it starts it surges real bad, then when it warms up it gets real hot I mean real hot!!! It fries the plug wires on the passenger side:frown: The car has some power but with the mods it is slower then my bone stock 84 WH1:eek: I noticed today when you turn the key to the run position the fuel pressure shoots up to 55psi then drops rapidly???? I have it set to 45psi when it is running? I was also wondering with some of the mods I have should I get a chip burned for it or does it really matter?? I would really just like to get it fine tuned so I can drive it for more then 20 minutes with out it crapping out or fouling plugs left and right:mad:

Any help here??
Thanks

Before you get a chip burnt I would suggest finding out what the problem is.

Here is my SWAG from 1200 miles away, without scantool data.
You may be burning fuel in the exhaust.
Not sure how to tell without an EGT, or WB.
This is what I would do;

1 - Get the FP down to around 43 (depending on the chip), signal line off @ idle.
2 - Verify (make SURE!) that the chip matches the injectors.
3 - Get the basics done (TPS, IAC, MAF, Pugs & wires, O2, grounds, exhaust leaks, vacuum leaks, coil and ignition module, etc), i.e "Spring cleaning"
4 - Then, get a scantool and post some data so we can help.

What do the plugs look like?

Ok

Well I don't know if it helps or not, but I have stock injectors and a stock ECM with a stock chip as well. Could that be my problem??? Also I am really starting to think I have a bad injector or a few for that matter:rolleyes: Reason is the fuel pressuer when the engine is running the turns off will not hold for more then ten minutes, but my or car a 84 as well will hold the fuel pressure all night long!! Also what do you guys recomend for plug wires and if the injectors are bad with all the mods I have should I upgrade them and to what size if I should???? Any help would be thankfull;)

?????

I have noticed that when the car is cold it fires right up, and after it had warmed up it is harder to start! Could that tell you guys anything???

It sounds lean. Is there a leak at the fuel pump inside the tank? Did you replace the pulsator with a hose and clamp it? Start out simple, since you have another hot air car, swap the MAS and see what that does, verify you have fuel pressure at cruise, let alone at WOT. I had a problem with a pump that couldn't keep up at cruise. Put your stock FP regulator back on and see what it does.

Well my 2cents says it sounds like the EGR valve is stuck open, or getting vacum at the wrong time. Check that, because if it stays open, the exhaust gas can cause the plug fouling, and alot of heat! Make sure it hooked up right.

That is what I was thinking??

I was leaning towards a fuel pump problem. It seems to me that the fuel presure is never at one steady reading and it does go all over the place:rolleyes: I was thinking it was the pump or the regulator?? I had changed the MAF from my other car and it did run better a little? I had also thought it could be a vacuum problem as well but I did not think about the EGR vavle. I will have to check into it and the pump. I know it has a Walboro 340 pump and I have been told by many they are a waste of money cause they always fail!! Anyone know of a better fuel pump to use??

I have been running a single 340 for over 2 years with no problems. I think the new ones have problems.

There's a guy on here that was showing how he put a Supra pump in, it seem to be a good pump.
