Well, I dropped my oil pan to fix the rear main seal and I also decided to replace the waterpump and timing chain. So, when I dropped the oil pan I found what is in the first picture. Nothing else was really in the pan mind you, a little bit of tiny tiny scraps of metal and RTV but nothing out of the ordinary. Also, the oil pump screen was so clogged to hell, it was a little hill of debris. Anyway, I took the front cover off and in the second picture is the pic of the nylon timing gear. Surprisingly it had no teeth missing and hardly any damage done to it. The final pictures are of the main caps and rods from taking the oil pan off. Everything looks okay and there is no chips or anything but I thought I'd take a picture of it under there in case you guys can point anything out of the ordinary.

And since I have no clue how to post pics on this website, I'll post the link to turbobuicks.com:

It appears you need to replace you head gasket(s). the material you have in the oil pick up screen is most likely graphite. When ever you lift your heads from detetonation, ect. your gaskets graphite starts to widdled away. Eventualy, you have what is in your pan---a piece of head gasket which pushed out. If you remove the push rods, and look through the push rod holes with a flashlight, you will probably see some additional gasket material hanging from between the heads and block ( most likely in the area of the #3 and #4 cylinders ). Hope I'm wrong. Brian

How do i remove the pushrods? I hope this isn't head gasket material. Would that mean I'm in trouble or would just have to replace the head gaskets and I'd be okay again? I should probably do a compression test right?

A compression test won't really tell you much, as the fire ring could still be in tact. You need to unbolt the rocker arm shafts, and remove them. Then the push rods will lift right out (((( be carefull to keep track of where everything came from for the reinstall ))). If it's the HG, you'll need to remove this stuff anyhow. Have a good feeling you'll be pulling the heads, as that peice in your oil pan looks real familiar.HTH, Brian
