Hi guys, I have oil in my antifreeze but no antifreeze in the oil? I am a novice at the turbo buick game and the tuning of this thing is driving me crazy. I put a new aluminum radiator and ramchargers fan in last week. I took it for a ride after and it was breaking up real bad under load. The next day I changed plugs and the front one on pass. side had a white substance on the electrode. so I checked the radiator and saw some spots of oil in there. I checked the oil and no signs of anti freeze. Probaly first thing is a compression check I guess. Other vehichles I've had always showed coolant in the oil when a head gasket blew?
Thanks for any advice
Dan

Anyone out there? I'm just looking for a little advice here, thats all.
I bought this car last fall and just getting around to driving it now.
I guess i bit off more than i can chew with this car as my first turbo car.

Are you sure the coolant has spots of oil? Could it be that the previous owner added RMI-25 and that is what your seeing?

Do a compression check and you'll know. No need to guess. It's either blown or it isn't.

Dan,
I'm pretty sure whenever you have an aluminum radiator/heads you will need to put an additive in the coolant to make sure something like that won't happen. I've also been told to NOT use anitifreeze coolant. Use only distilled water and a certain type of coolant additive I think Connley's sells. Could be part of your problem. I had the exact syptoms as you with the very tip of all the electrodes white and what looked like oil in the coolant. But my car ended up spinning bearings and the rear piston hitting the crankshaft. I went through over 5 gallons of oil checking the consistency and the oil looked fine, with exceptions of the first oil change. I have the motor out now but not on a stand yet, I was suspecting intake gasket but cannot confirm. I did a compression check and got around 140 on all cylinders with a leaky compression guage. I hope you have better luck than I did. Let us know how it turns out

thanks

Thanks guys, I used distilled water and The stuff Nick Micale sells (RM25 I think thats the name) I didn't mention that the oil pressure dropped from 65 down to 50lbs (at Idle) I'm not much of a wrench so my best bet would be to call Jack Cotton for an Appointment He's about an hour away from me. But I will do a compression test and let you guys know whats up.... I dont have a good feeling about this!

A blown head gasket shouldnt affect oil pressure as no pressurised oil goes through the headgasket. Maybe the radiator has a leaky oil cooler?

HTH,
Steve
