Does anyone know if the heads on our 3.8's are the same as the NA 3.8's?
Also does anyone have any flow bench numbers for the stock heads? The guy at the machine shop is running my home ported heads on the flow bench and would like to know how much increase in air flow there is ( if any ).
Any help?

umm.. i think the heads you want are "8445" heads.. i will search real quick and let you know but i think the heads are all the same.

ill see if i can find some stock flow #s

Same exact heads with one exception. The non-turbo heads aren't machined for exhaust seals. It's just a machinng difference that doesn't matter at all. I don't know flow #s but there's a lot to be gained with minor cleanup. I do mine at home with a Dremel tool, takes about 20hrs that way.

Per an Article from the "Source" news letter, they found that untouched head's flow pretty much stalls out around 150 CFM and .300" lift on the intake. At .45" lift they only flow around 154 CFM (any more lift that this is doesn't matter because our cams don't go that high). On the exhaust side, they flow about 108 CFM at .400".

156/110 @ .500 is the info I found....

foudn that through search

That really shows how a cam swap with stock heads is a waste. I am working on a set of heads for my hot air right now. What a pain. Well worth it though.

hey forcefed,my friend just bought a 2000 gtp.what are the boltons you used to get in the 13's?

My car went 14.2@96 stock, some are slower from the factory, so results may very. I have the SLP ram air (removing the headlight at the track is the same), SLP exhaust (the factory exhaust isn't that restrictive), 3.25" pulley, NGK TR6 spark plugs, and U-bend delete.

nice.that's a healthy et for a stock car.is the slp stuff "better" than the thrasher stuff?anything we should stay away from?do you still run the cat with your exhaust?

we're not gonna go crazy with this car,it's a really nice driver so we figured we'd just do the good boltons and leave it be:).

I ran in the 13's with the cat and U-bend. When I deleted the U-bend, I removed the cat, but it really isn't a restriction. I plan on running a smaller pulley in the future that will require race fuel. My pulley is a thrasher, and the thrasher cold air kit is good too, but for minor bolt ons, a stock air box with a K&N is just as good. You will have to remove the headlight for cold air with either. I also just bought a Thrasher PCM used from a friend. I have not ran the car yet, and he had no back to back drag tests. It raises the shift points to 6000, and barks the tires in 2nd. HP increase wasn't much with the eariler PCM's, but driveability is improved, and the knock retard attack rate is quicker.
I also recommend a trans cooler and driving around in performance all of the time. 2000 was the last year for the performance shift button, 2001 has the performance shift already learned in the PCM.
I also removed the MAS screen. Some people told me not to do this, but now it is a common thing to do. I never had any problems.
A pulley swap makes a hugh difference in torque. Nothing like a FWD family car breaking the tires loose from 35mph and sliding the front end across the road.
