Loctite makes a teflon thread sealer that I have used many times that works good. I'm sure there is other stuff that works as well.

Permatex Ultra Black all the way. Works great on practically any part of the engine and hides well. Just need to make sure it's ULTRA black and not just black silicon. The loctite teflon thread sealer also works fine just as Nasty says. Either will keep the water where its supposed to be.
