The slider that goes from Cold to Hot won't go all the way to Cold.
Is this an issue?
Have everything torn apart and won't put it back together if this should be fixed somehow.
The new vacuum valve #16037778 helped a bunch as far a directing the air, but still think it could be colder.
Thanks
Paul

If the lever will not go all the way closed to COLD the temp. door could be jammed or stuck open some allowing warmer air to exit the vents.

Also it won't turn off the vacuum to the heater water valve properly unless it goes to COLD position.

I'd check that operation out further.

It's a direct mechanical link to the door. Usually you can hear it slam shut during quick forceful operation of the lever.

The temp control cable has a tab that must be properly snapped into the heater box. It it has come out or broken, that could be the issue. There is also a slider on the cable that is used to adjust the travel of the door. Check where the slider is positioned and readjust for proper travel on the door.

If your cable is damaged, they are still available from the dealer. Here is a quote for part #10000745 cable assembly from GM parts direct:
GM LIST: $11.15
OUR PRICE: $6.35

Think the cable is okay.
There's a white plastic vertical "thingie" that looks like it threads onto a metal rod. I'm thinking that I need to unscrew it a few turns, but don't now how to get it out of the black plastic piece that it looks like it's press-fitted into.
If any of that makes sense.
Thanks for the help.
Paul
