Sorry for posting this, im sure everyone will tell me to use the search button, which last time i tried to searched I didn't find what I was looking for. Im about to look at a 1984 Regal T-type, I just wanted to know what I should look out for?

T-types are the same drivetrain as a GN down to the rearend correct? 8.5 inch? Sorry I'm a noob, this car is completely stock, I plan to make it as fast as I can as cheaply as I can if I purchase it.

Thank You

Thank you,

How much would is a 84 T Type w/ 80k miles worth? I don't know if the price is good or not.

depends on condition, t types ussually dont bring as much as a gn, especially in 84 since the 84 gn had the special lear interior. Its hard to say on price without knowing more about it. I would say an average condition driver would be about 3k and a very well taken care of car 5.5k. i purchased a 85 ttype wh1 with 97k miles in above average condition from the original owner for 2900, but that was 10 years ago.

Thanks, yeah he wants like 3.9k i'll try to talk him down since its dark purple :/ lol

I would try and find a well informed board member to come with you to check it out. A lot of members here will do that for the price of dinner. It could save you a lot of money and headaches in the end.

Check the RPO code on the trunk lid. If G80 is the code for the posi 3.42 rear (What you want).

He finally sent me some good pictures, it's a maroon color but he said the previous owner painted it that color...the vinyl top seems to match the body pretty well though... I don't see many with vinyl tops, I'd definitely want to remove it and spray it black... The bumpers aren't chrome which I thought for an 84 they would be. Anyways the clear coat is faded in certain spots, and he said a portion of the exhaust is missing because the previous owner tried to put dual exhaust on it and they were small and choked it out so he basically is running open exhaust before the catback...

How much is it to go with a 3inch down pipe through a high flow catback, do the sell all components of the exhaust for these vehicles, I'd guess so... Or should I do a custom big bore single dumped exhaust, any guesses on cost to fix it?

get a picture of the SPID sticker in the trunk to verify that it actually is a T Type and what parts it's supposed to have. verify that it still has the 8.5 rear, 200-4r trans, the stiffer suspension with bigger sway bars and tight ratio steering box, and (of course) the SFI turbocharged 3.8 engine.

and, yes, a T Type is pretty much the same car as a GN- in fact, a GN is just an option package on top of the T Type that came with a special interior, black paint, different wheels, and spoilers on the nose and trunk..

I'll try to get the trunk sticker, also it has very hideous wheels :/

Heres some pics of what he sent me

you can tell by the 8th digit in the vin if it is a turbo car or not, also make sure the vin matches the vin printed on the rpo sticker in trunk.

Can someone give me a call to talk about how the scanmaster works, the check engine light is on, brake light is on, it's a mess.... The guy says it has old gas so I'm not sure if it's really that or not, needs complete exhaust needs shocks and springs. Needs a lot. Got him down to $2.5k

Call me at 716-348-6121

Thx

Also the key for the doors and trunk is missing so I couldn't look at the codes

does it have the power trunk option, its a yellow button when you open the glove box up near the latch? 8th digit vin should be 9

Where else is the vin number on the car besides the trunk? I couldn't see it when I looked near the windshield.

If you cant see the vin on the lower drivers side windshield then you have a problem, it should be there plain as day. There are hidden vins but i dont know where they are. Did you buy the car already, if so what is the vin on the title.
