Longtime watcher of the board but 1st post.

My current mods are in my signature. I am in the process of prepping my car for paint. My front and rear main seals leak so I am going to pull the engine to replace with neoprene seals. While I have it out, the oil pump, timing chain, valve springs, and lifters will be replaced.

I will probably use the Comp 980 valve springs. Does any machine work need to be done to the heads to used these?

As far as the oil pump, is the high volume pumps I see recommended?

Who has the most reliable timing chain?

I am also going to pull the cam out to check for wear. I was also thinking of replacing it with a 206 or 212 from Comp Cams since they are here in Memphis.

I am also going to pull the pan and check the bottom end. I do not plan on removing the heads unless I see a problem since the car only has 120k miles.

This is going to be a weekend driver and will see a little track time. After the body is done and painted, will probably udgrade to 50 lb injectors, Houston or ATR D/P, bigger turbo. I want to do everything internally necessary while I have the engine out.

Sorry for so many questions, but any help is appreciated.

---980 without cup ( I removed my damper spring in)
---no machining need for 980 direct fit

---at rebuilt ( 15w 40 will give you a few psi at idle )

--- you can touch 10 with stock cam
use this money for a futur head porting

---50 lb injectors are ok but with a bigger turbo than ta 49

---3" Houston good choice

Thanks Claude for the response.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Is a steel or billet timing set best?

Also does anyone know of a good machine shop in Memphis to port and polish the heads? I am still fairly new to the area.
