Found out today I had no brake lites but the center light in the back window works. Parking lites and turnsignals work. I have juice at the brake switch but where the wires come out next to the fuse box to go to the rear lites, I have no power when the brake switch is engaged. Three prong plug on brake switch has orange wire (always hot), white wire which I think powers the brake lites and a blue wire for the rear window brake light. Brake switch is good. White wire goes behind fuse box and goes hot when switch is engaged. I didn't pull the fuse box down yet. Anyone know what it's hooked to? Fuse maybe? I tried to wire the switch direct through a fuse holder to wires that go to rear but the turn signals didn't work. I'm going to dig into it tomorrow. Any help is appeciated.

John, the third lite is a straight shot from the brake switch whereas the main brake lites run thru the turn signal/hazard switch.

on the right hand side of the steering column, there is an 11 terminal inline connector. The last four terminals are L, M, n, P.

P is the white wire, it should be hot when the brake is mashed.
M is a yellow wire, it should be hot when the brake is mashed.
N is dark green and it should also be hot when the pedal is pressed.

If P is hot, but M & N are not when the pedal is mashed, then it would appear to be the turnsignal/hazard switch that is bad.

Thanks Steve. That's a great start........somewhere to look. By turnsignal/hazard switch do you mean the flasher? Turn signals and hazard lites are working. ?????

the turnsignal/hazard switch is the unit at the top of the column, just below the the steering wheel....the regular brakelights are routed thru it.....

Yep.. I had the same problem with on of my Regals, the "P" white wire was corroded at the connector...

Glad you got it fixed John!

:D

Bringing up an old thread but someone else, like me, might this info as well. My "white" wire was broke, after a resolder we are good again. This thread helped a TON!!!
