Help: Drive Belt Basics

Hi:

I've got an 87 GN. I do the simple maintenance myself. Oil/fluids/filter changes, plugs, etc. I just replaced my alternator. All went well except now the belts are squealing. Can anyone describe to me how to go about tighten up the drive belt? Thanks in advance.

your g.n has a belt tensioner , there is no adjustment it does it for you , if your belt is old it might make noise , i really never seen that too often though!make sure all your pulleys look lined up!

Most likely the pulley on the new alt is a bit smaller,making the belt too long
