Back in 93 my trans let go in the GN. It was still under the 6/60. So I had local GM dealership rebuilt the trans, everything good. Today we descovered that it does not have the D5 in it anymore. I have notice that I have been having some trouble getting it to spool (only put 1500 miles on it since then) . I thought it may have been the crack in the header, but now I wonder.

Anyways....The converter is stamped D9 and is gray in color. I'm sure it would be GM, because the dealership replaced it.
Does anyone know what kind of stall this converter has??????

could possibly be a n/a converter with a low stall..? i dont suppose you can have them check and repla e with the proper part number still, huh?

Hi,
I suspect you have a D6 converter in there. I have the same problem. It is a low stall converter apporx 1800. I can only brake torque the D6 to about 1500. My last car had a D5 and it would brake torque to 2100-2200 before the brakes would let go on my TTA.
Change the converter to a D5 at least.
Come over and help me put a D5 into mine too...LOL
James
