It has a stamped number on the front facing surface. It either says L-7703 or L-7705. I can't quite make it out for sure. I would put my money on the 3 if I had to though.

I don't think I can help you ID the converter but is there any other information you can give people? What size is it? Do you know how old. What color paint if it doesn't look re-painted? Are there any other letters or numbers on it, etc? What kind of mounting tabs or plate does it have? Does it have a visible anti-ballooning plate? Things like that. Do you have any ideas at all? If so you might want to gather all your info and call one of the manufactures. Also, what type of trans, 400 or 200R? Is it a lock up or non-lockup? All these things will help. Looking at the number it doesn't look line an Art Carr, I think their numbers are 5 digits with no letters in the number, at least in their part catalog numbers.

It's a 12" lock-up in a 200-4r. The color is a lite brownish pukey deal. I'm hoping someone can help me based on the number I gave alone though. I'd feel better about the authenticity of the info that way.

Correct. I wasn't suggesting ID'ing it by the looks. There are many manufactures out there and unfortunately no one BIG book of numbers to match against. If by looks a few manufacturers can be narrowed down then they can be contacted with part numbers to see if it's theirs. That was the idea. I agree, ID'ing my looks, color and size would be foolish!

Thanks for understanding. I appreciate your help. I should have included some basic info with my first post. I would have included more in my last post, but I don't know any more of what you suggested. Jeff

Yeah, not much to go on when ID'ing a converter. All have the same shaft and they all look pretty much the same. Only thing you can do it try to narrow down the search I guess...
