Ok its hot in California. My Fan will not turn off. even with the water temp at 180F. I disconected the battery so it wont run out. What do I do? What sensors do I look at and where are they? Help please.

sounds as if the relay may be stuck on, but I thought it would not have a power source with key off??? Your fan is not directly hooked to power is it??? The temp sensor that controls the fan on/off is on the ________________ someone plz fill that in. I dont know which one is gauge and which is ECM. Even with a bad sensor, your fan should not stay on with the key off. Usually when the sensor goes bad the WONT RUN. Something sounds weird. I am thinking either the fan is hooked directly to power or the relay. Again, Im not sure where that is. I know there are a few on the pass side fender and a couple over on the driver side. Not sure which one is the fan. Sorry, I know that was no help at all.

Probably the fan delay relay on the driver side front fender, its the big one. Unplug it, and see if the fan works as normal. Its supposed to run after the car is shut off if its hot, but not for more than 10 minutes.

I think it is directly connected to the alternator. The previous owner did it I think. There is a little connecting box thing??? that a couple wires are connected to. I am going to take some pics of it.

hmmmmmmmm, mine may be bad as well then cause my fan NEVER runs after key off.

Its a very common problem, but I think its a dealer only part. I know several TR vendors sell them, and I think Red Regal T on this board sells them too, but I could be wrong. I doubt its connected to the alternator, it would never shut off, ever. One thing you can do is unplug the relay and remove it and shake it. If it sounds like its full of rocks, its bad.

Mine rarely let the fan run when I shut the car off, even after I replaced it. The car has to be at a certain temp. for it to happen, and with my aluminum radiator, 160 stat, and dual fans, its never been that hot.

If I'm not mistaken you can drive it forever with it unplugged, it is not a mandatory parts. Lots of guys get tired of replacing them and just unplug them and thats it. The fan should still work except it won't run after the key is off. I think water gets in the relay and makes it go bad.
