Hey how is everyone doing I havent really been on the hotair section but i have an 85 T-Type but im having some problems with it it died on me the other day and when i try starting it and it cranks but sounds like its blowin air through the intake can anyone give me any ideas on what to look for? I already changed the ingniton module over to an 87 and crankshaft sensor i cant think of anything else.

It's hard to tell remotely what the problem is, but basically the only place you should hear air being suck in is around the air filter. The only place you should hear air or any kind of gas being blown out is the tailpipes. All of this you probably already know, but air leaks before or around the intake can really play havoc with the engine. Locate the leaks and seal them and things should improve.

You dont think that switching the 85 ignition for the 87 had anything to do with it cause the guy i bought it from said that it plugs right in but the air being blown through the intake means the timing is off if the intake valve is open on exhaust do you know if the 87 plugs right in or do i need something to adapt it?

To switch from an 84/85 coil/ignition module to a 86/87 you'll need this

Casper's Electronics, Inc.: CCCI Adapter

I spoke to John Spina of Casper Electronics this weekend about offering this with an ignition hotwire. That's what I'd go for if switching to that ignition module. I believe your right on the money on this being your problem, this can more than likely cause back firing into the intake.

The ignition system are not plug in play. Your need a wiring adapter to the coil module and an adapter plate for the bracket. Brad
