Am trying to pass emissions tomorrow-- what would folks try as a first attempt at FP with this chip.

Right now I have it at about 30# vac off and it drives fine. How low should I eke it down to for lowest emissions?

thanks,
Scott

If you're trying to pass smog with a Thrasher, forget it. As an open loop idle chip they wont pass smog. Unless of course there are NO limits.

It's an emissions chip, not a regular thrasher. I just ordered it from my favorite thrasher dealer.

My buddy just passed with it and no cat.

Scott,
I used a Thrasher chip when I went through two years ago, but i think it was one of their regular 92 chips. I lowered the FP to around 18psi(!) and unhooked the fan when I was ready to go in. I zero'd out just about everything that they were reading.

I'd say lower the FP as low as you can and still be able to drive it.

As you know though, DE is different than what you'll have to go through in PA.

38 psi worked great for me. i got my chip from Rob wilson. i passed with no alchy in the take also. i let my car get as hot as i could stand to let it.

A Thrasher "smog" chip? Hmmmm??? kinda defeats the Thrasher purpose.

GN SBS, if your buddy passed a smog inspection without a cat. I'd love to see your state's testing limits!! Also J Banning's!!

Like I've said in many earlier threads. The smog requirements from state to state are so incredibly different that even asking about what it takes to pass smog on a public thread is treading dangerous territory. Unless you talk directly with the folks in your state and region about what will get through and what wont is not going to get you much useful information.

I suspect there are some states that you could pass their smog inspection with a regular Thrasher and no cat. But it's all relative. If for example their HC upper limits are like, 900ppm

As for a "smog" Thrasher, they would have to remove the open loop idle functionality for that to be true, and now, the greatest feature of the Thrasher is no longer working

Oh Well, stranger things have happened. ;)

One other thing that struck me. You had your fuel pressure down to 18??!!! That must have driven your HC absolutely through the roof!!! Do they even measure HC there?

There are several things that drive HC high. One of them is running a lean mixture.

I'll see what I can dog up in regards to Delaware's testing standards.

I'll be going through again around December. It's hard to believe it's already been two years since I got the car running!

-Banning.
