I have a turbonetics .82 housing waiting to go on my PTE44 for a little more topend but I'm stuck. i can not for the life of me get this old housing off. I definitely don't want to hurt the turbo at all. I've WD40ed it, all the bolts are loose, but it just won't come off the turbo or even clock so I can get the other 2 bolts fully out (the ones near the oil feed and return ) I've tried an air hammer and really uglied up the current exhaust housing and as a last resort I put it in the oven for an hour at 325* and still no luck. any ideas? And what can I expect to pay a turbo shop to remove it for me if I can't get this?

You baked your Turbo:confused:

We had a tough time with mine also....we sprayed it, beat it with a rubber mallet, pried it, etc. We ended up making a puller for it, slowly we worked it and it came off...

Good Luck:cool:

P.S. Make sure the two bolt's you cannot get out are loose and not hitting,Make sure that is not the cause of why the Turbo will not split.

Take a torch and heat it up. If you don't have a torch get one of those butane/propane torches that plumbers use to sweat fittings...It's carbon that has a hold of it.

Scott is right, when we finally got my apart there was a ridge of carbon I had to sand down:o

How about GM Top Engine Cleaner and soak that end of the turbo in it. It will clean piston tops overnight in a small bowl. Should cut turbo soot quick!
