Help w/tire selection

Ok folks, my car will see NO track time and NO burnouts. I'm strictly looking for the proper tire that will provide good stoplight blasts from a dig and up to say a 5# boost cold launch. This is not my daily driver, however I am concerned with tread life in that I would like to get at least 15K-20K strictly street miles on a set of tires. I will be going to a stock widenend rim (8") and am considering the following tires:

OR

if the above tires are overkill for my stated goals, could y'all provide some insight on what would best suit my needs/goals.

That's what I figuring. I like these Nitto's but I bet they are a pretty penny:

Should I start looking under the "ultra high performance" category then? There's gotta be some middleground between drag radials and rock hard street radials.

I think the aforementioned Nitto's will be what I go with. I read some of the reviews on the discounttiredirect.com website and they seem to be what I'm looking for. Looks like real world daily driving will yield 12k to 15k. Would like some input from people that have had them on the TR's though.

Plus, I have a discounttire is less than 2 miles from the house.

I have about 8000 miles on my Nitto's - 275/50/15 on the stock 7" GN wheel and they are gone. I believe they would have lasted a bit longer if they were on an 8" wheel. The 8000 miles includes at least 30 track passes with burn-outs. I think that they are great street tires and marginal track tires. I too am looking for new rear street tires but want a 245 or 255/60/15. I'm a little afraid of regular radials since the car may not be drivable at WOT on the street.

Where did u get the wheels widened? I too am interested in that, price, and quality of work.

thanks Brad

You mentioned the size of tires that you are running but you did not mention the brand. I have the BF Goodrich 275/60R15's and smoke them up at every light. I am trying to figure out if they are old or too much psi in them. I would like to know what brand and how much air you are putting in.
