Two issues:
First I had the car with about 3 gallons of gas in it and the fuel pressure gauge (VDO mechanical) was bouncing/surging a little. I have never seen that before but yet I really never looked for it either. I just figured low fuel, and the pressure would be affected. I filled it up and it was steady.
Second, I took a 3 hour trip with the car and when I went to park it, there was a pretty loud buzzing noise coming from the fuel tank/pump. Almost embarrissing loud. I let it cool and no more noise.
Does this sound like my fuel pump is going? I have a hotwired 340 in there that is over 10 years old. You can hear the pump when the car is on but it was never that loud as it was after the trip.
I figure for $100 (new 340) better to be safe than sorry. Is there anything else that could have caused the noise?? TIA.

First off I think you're right on with the logic that for $100 replacing the pump is cheap insurance, even if it hasn't outright failed I wouldn't trust a 10 year old pump to fuel my Buick under boost. Second, that buzzing could also have been the hotwire relay by the tank. Sometimes when relays go bad (particularly in the coil portion) they make a buzzing sound because it engages and disengages the contacts really fast. When they do that it sounds like a loud, angry bee.

I'll give John a call at Casper's. He had always been very good with me and I do have his hotwire kit.

The Racetronix stuff looks really nice too.
