I need some help identifying a spare trans I have lying around. If anyone can figure it out I know you guys can.

It's a 2004R, it came with my gp when i got it, replaced it with a rebuilt CZF trans so I don't need one right now I just want to know what I have. The yellow tag by the mount looks as if it was stamped by someone who hit the sauce early. Here is the code as best as I can read it:

CRF (above the numbers)
CRF-387-07-87

There seems to be half a number stamped above and between the first '87' and the last seven isn't even lined up with the rest of the numbers. The dashes are a part of the number.

I have already been to a website that explains how to read the ID tag, but what I can't figure out is why there aren't 13 or 15 numbers and letters on the tag.

Can anyone help with the ID on this trans?

Thanks in advance.

crf as far as i know is a5 liter non ho monte carlo ss trans .i like the calibration on it i might add ckperformance.com

Chris, thanks for replying.

So is the CRF trans as good as the CZF? I did notice the pink paint blotch on the valve body, but the governor is white.

Is this trans worth building up as a performance trans.
Again thanks for the reply.

it may have pink but its not the same as aczf.worksgreat with 3.08 to 3.73 rear ends with motors that spin up to about 5400 rpm. you have to use a special gov spring and itll rip.we got em .no big deal its cheap.great for small block chevys .

Thanks for the info Chris,

I guess I'll keep the trans for a rainy day, you never know.
